MASERATI L’ Era Biturbo.
“Maserati – The Biturbo Era” is the first and only book in Italian that deals entirely with the story of the Maserati Biturbo and all derivative versions, covering twenty years of history of the brand, from 1981 to 2001, and can be defined a sort of encyclopedia of Maserati Biturbos. Over years of work, the author has investigated all aspects of that story, interviewing the protagonists of the time, analyzing the original documents, in collaboration with the Maserati Historical Archive, comparing the details of thousands of cars observed over the years thanks to his personal experience.
The result is a very complete work, 416 pages long, with over a thousand photographs, many of which are “official”, coming from the Maserati Photographic Archive, never shown before. The book was created with great care, on quality paper, and with a fine hardcover binding.
The author has completely reconstructed the genesis and history of the Biturbo, starting from the historical, political and industrial context in which it was conceived, and analyzing the technical characteristics of the project. The book represents an exceptional historical document that takes the reader back to the climate of the 70s-80s-90s. The development of the events is followed day by day over a period of two decades.
All the countless versions derived from the Biturbo, from the first series of 1982 up to the last 3200 GT of 2001, are neatly cataloged and meticulously described, with the relevant technical data sheets and the analysis of the innovations and peculiar characteristics of each version. The official production data of these models, coming from the Maserati Archive, is also shown.
The work is characterized by an incessant search for precision, both in terms of data and content, and definitively sheds light on events that have often been treated in a superficial and imprecise manner in magazines, books and on the web. Furthermore, this volume aims to search for historical truth, dismantling the countless clichés surrounding these cars, but at the same time carrying out a clear analysis of the problems that did not allow the initial success to be maintained over time.
